Why is Salman Khan Not Ready to Work With Farhan Akhtar?

BDC News
The superstar has been approached by the filmmaker twice but….

The much awaited sequel to 2008 film Rock On! has wrapped its shooting diaries and soon Farhan Akhtar will be shifting his focus on completing the script of action-thriller Don 3, and with this film he will be associating with his friend Shah Rukh Khan for the third time after Don and Don 2. Farhan has worked with Aamir Khan on the cult classic Dil Chahta Hai and psychological thriller Talaash in the recent past.

However, it’s strange that while every filmmaker wants to work with Salman Khan, we are yet to see Farhan do a film with Salman for his production house even as their respective fathers, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar have worked together as writers churning over 20 commercially and critically successful films in the earlier decades. But yes, later, as we all know, their partnership turned sour. The trade is certainly keen on a film with Farhan and Salman. And it’s not as if Farhan hasn’t tried. “I have approached Salman on two occasions with scripts over the last few years but he had his own plans (laughs). I have absolutely no problem collaborating with him. My banner has approached him previously and will keep approaching him. After that, it is his decision if he wants to do a film with us or not. But it is certainly very difficult to say when I will direct him,” says Farhan.

Commenting on their equation, Farhan says, “We are not great friends but I grew up with Salman. He taught me cycling and swimming. In fact, Sohail, Alvira, Arbaaz, Zoya and I are very close. We party a lot. Salman is not around that much because he is very busy.” Farhan adds that the differences between their fathers was never a problem. “It was good of them not to involve us kids in their issues and differences. It never filtered down to us,” he concludes.
