After the news of Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and cricket star Virat Kohli’s split made headlines there were also speculations of how Virat had invested in Anushka-Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap. Reports suggested that Virat had put in Rs 40 crore in this film failed to impress at the box office. However, rumour mills suggesting that the couple’s romance went bust over the lost 40 crores in in fact fake as per new reports in an article in Bollywood Life.

Firstly, if Virat Kohli had invested the huge sum of Rs 40 crore in the film, wouldn’t he want some kind of credit for it? There was no mention of the cricketer anywhere in the movie’s credits. The film was in fact backed by one of the biggest film studios in the industry, Fox Star Studios India.

Bollywood Life also got in touch with trade expert Akshaye Rathi who called this news piece ‘HILARIOUS!’ Rathi said, “It’s a hilarious news. How can one forget that the film was backed by Fox Star Studio? When you have an RBI would you go loan some money from local lenders? When you have the sun shining on you why would turn on the tube light?”

Anushka Sharma’s spokesperson has also maintained silence on the issue.
