Mumbai Oct 26 Singer-rapper Badshah with his distinctive style, powerful lyrics, and infectious beats, has taken the Indian music industry by storm. His success, be it with Bollywood music or independent projects, has made him a household name. He is returning as the Super Judge on Hustle 03, read on to know more about his
judging experience and what’s in store for him in the future….
Your real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, do you still respond to it?
Yes very much, in fact there are very few people who call me Badshah, people who actually know me call me Aditya and I, in fact, ask people to call me Aditya. You return as super judge on Hustle 03, and you have been a judge of other shows as well, how is this different from others
?Ethics wise it is the same, you just have to be honest with your work. There is a little more emotional attachment here because it is my genre of music. Me and my squad bosses see so much talent, it sends us back to our time of
struggle.
When the level of talent goes up , does it put a lot of pressure on judges?I think we are under pressure all the time, talent is extremely crazy this time around, contestants are so well aware, they are so well prepared and are extremely competitive. They know that Hustle 03 is that platform where they have to give it their all.
You are the creator of so many party anthems, but you are hardly seen at parties and often call yourself socially awkward …
Absolutely, one wouldn’t spot me at a lot of parties. I don’t think it is socially awkward, it is just that parties are not my thing, I’d rather sit with a limited number of people and enjoy myself in a quiet place.
Oscar winner M. M. Keeravani in an interview said that India doesn’t have music stars, we have playback singers, what’s your take on it ?
I think the scene is changing slowly. I think we have people who are known for their music and the face of the music they make, and the late Sidhu Moose Wala has to be the biggest example of that.
Bollywood has given you a lot of name fame, money etc, do you fear that one day it will all vanish?
No, I don’t fear that. I’m ready for that. I will earn my money, earning money needs a different mechanism. But name and fame is a cycle… happens with everyone. When I entered the industry I knew this home (name and fame) was on rent and that one day I will have to exit it.
A lot of people look up to you, do you see it as a responsibility?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I dont… you can’t be perfect. Like when I’m creating something, then I don’t take any responsibility, when I release it, then I do ( laughs) . You are also a responsible citizen of the country, hence there
are few things you need to be careful about.
On Twitter sometime back, you wrote ‘Chahiye to Alia Bhatt’ …
This was a dialogue from Jawan…I was so surprised when the dialogue comes in the film …like aur kya chahiye and SRK replies chahiye to alia bhatt… kitna genuine answer hai … that was just me acknowledging that being genuine is the best thing, it is the most endearing thing. Honesty always brings a smile on your face
Have you slowed down your Bollywood work?
I deliberately took a step back. Like when you are starting out, there is a lot of fascination, but with time you see everything, you meet everyone and things lose their charm. First there is that rush to do everything, but with time you want to do limited work of your choice. So for me now, everything is very relationship based and in the end, it is the relationship that you carry forward.
