Aziz Ansari Blasts Donald Trump at TIME 100 Gala

New York, April 28 (IANS) Indian-American comedian Aziz Ansari has blasted Donald Trump, saying the Republican presidential frontrunner may “put my parents under surveillance since they’re Muslim”.
Caitlyn Jenner sang Donald Trump’s praises at the TIME 100 Gala in New York City Tuesday night – but at least one attendee wasn’t thrilled to see the GOP front-runner at the event.
“He’s coming?” a surprised Aziz Ansari asked of Trump on the red carpet for the gala honoring world leaders in science, technology and arts and entertainment.
“Oh yeah, he asked for me to be seated in a different area,” joked the Master of None creator and star, 33. “I’ll go ask him if he’s going to put my parents under surveillance since they’re Muslim.”
Trump has come under fire in the past for his views and comments on Muslims, in particular, his widely-panned proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.
Most recently, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, whose parents are Muslim, called on the media to challenge Trump on his anti-Muslim rhetoric.
“When you listen to what the leading candidate on the Republican side has been saying about building walls, about excluding Mexicans and a complete shutdown of all Muslims entering in, and if you actually look at what he specifically said in that now infamous speech about Muslims, he kept saying, ‘They only want jihad. They don’t believe in our way of life. They don’t respect our system.’ ”
“And when he says ‘they’ and you watch the media coverage afterwards, people, I think, should have been saying, ‘Do you mean the 1.5 billion people around the world who fit that description? Do you mean the people who are U.S. citizens who are members of your military who are, the vast majority of whom are not violent or extremists in any way?’ ”
