Sun, June 19, 2016: The glam diva shares her fondest memories with her dad
Despite her hectic schedule (she just completed her first Hollywood film XXX: The Return Of Xander Cage in the US and an item number for Raabta in Budapest), Deepika Padukone managed to get home to Mumbai a few days before her father Prakash’s 61st birthday last week (on June 9), so she could celebrate the day with him.
And though she is still busy — bang in the middle of script narrations — finalising her next Bollywood projects, Deepika will take time out to spend some time with her dad (her hero!) today, as her parents are currently in Mumbai. The actress shares some interesting memories of her father with us…
She tells us that she and her sister have always had a grounded childhood in spite of the fact that her dad was the first celebrity in the family — Prakash is one of Indian badminton’s biggest legends. “Anisha and I have had a very normal upbringing in Bangalore. We have always been a very close-knit family. Being daughters of someone deeply entrenched in the world of sports, there have been certain values that we picked up from dad like determination, and discipline… But the most important value for us as a family is to be good human beings. That is something that will stay with us for life.”
She shares a cute memory of her father as a child. “Every time I think of my dad, I think of him in a lungi. Every morning he would drop us to school in a lungi (laughs)! That is one of our fondest memories of dad.”
How is she planning to spend Father’s Day? Pat comes the reply, “Hopefully by spending some quality time with him…”
