Hema Malini is an Indian actress, director, producer and a Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer. Making her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar, she went on to appear in numerous Bollywood films. She is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actresses in the history of Indian cinema. She established herself as one of Hindi cinema’s leading actresses, noted for both her comic and dramatic roles, her beauty, and her accomplished classical dancing.

Hema Malini is among the most successful female film stars in the history of Indian cinema. Appearing in over 150 films in her career span, she has starred in a large number of successful films, and her performances in both commercial and art house cinema, were often recognized. During her career, she has been nominated 11 times for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She was awarded the prestigious “SaMaPa Vitasta Award 2006” in Delhi by SaMaPa – “Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts” by Music Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori for her lifetime contribution and service to Indian culture and Dance .

A first-class performer in the Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi styles of dance, Malini is renowned worldwide for her interpretation of Durga, one of the most formidable goddesses of the Hindu pantheon. The choreography is based on the charitas (stories) from the Devi Mahatmaya and also from the common folklore of Sati, Parvati and Durga. . Her ballets, presented by her company the Natyavihar Kalakendra, have thrilled millions of viewers.

She played the role of Goddess Durga in television serial Jai Mata Ki which aired on Star Plus. She owned the editorship of New Woman, a Hindi woman’s magazine. In 2000 she was appointed as the first-ever woman chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation for three years. She owns a dance school, Natya Vihar Kalakendra.

Durga is a dance ballet performed by Hema Malini and her group of 25 talented and exciting artists and production professionals. Hema Malini excels as Durga. Beautiful, fiery, and majestic.
