Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS Music composer AR Rahman, who has teamed up with filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker for a fourth time for Mohenjo Daro, said on Wednesday that the director had an interesting sense of music, which is what makes the songs of his films so popular.
“Ashutosh Gowariker has got very interesting musical sensibilities and he loves the process of creating music. He picks up the right tunes, the right lyrics and picturizes them with so much passion. So it’s always a pleasure working with him,” said Rahman, who has created some popular songs with Gowariker for his previous films Swades, Jodha Akbar and Lagaan.
“Mohenjo Daro looks great. I wish the whole team great success,” Rahman said at an event for the music platform Qyuki.
Rahman recently composed music for Brazilian footballer Pele’s biopic. He has previously composed music for an Iranian film, as well as several Hollywood and South Indian films.
On his diversity, he said, “Music is universal for me. You have to respect the culture, delve into it and go deep into it.”
Talking of the initial days of his career, he said, “I was very lucky. When I did ads, I had decided that whenever 10 of my ads come on national network, I’ll quit doing ads. And then one day, it happened and I didn’t know what to do next. Almost the next day Mani Ratnam came into my life. So if your wish is genuine, I think it comes true.”
Rahman will also compose music for 99 Songs, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, and Ok Jaanu, among others.
