Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s style of filmmaking has been discussed widely after the release of his latest drama, Animal. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in the lead roles has become a blockbuster hit, earning Rs 900.5 crore worldwide. Recently, the cast of the film revealed that they didn’t know the film’s story until the film’s premiere. In fact, Bobby Deol became restless when Vanga didn’t call him for the shoot for the longest time despite signing him for the role of Abrar Haque.

Actor Amanjot Singh, who essayed the role of Ranbir’s cousin in Animal shared with Siddharth Kannan, “We got to know more than half of the film’s story after watching it at the premiere.” Actor Vikram Bakshi added, “This was not just for us. 95 per cent of the cast also didn’t know it. So, there was no bias.”

Manjot Singh, who played the role of an obsessed cousin of Ranbir, shared how even the principal cast of the film was clueless about what was happening with Animal. “Once, Anil (Kapoor) sir came on the set and told us that he met Bobby (Deol) sir in London, who asked him, ‘Who is this director? Why is he not starting the shoot with me? He has not even sent me the script yet. At least, he should send me the script’” Singh shared.

He added, “It was then that we got to know that Bobby sir has no dialogue in the movie. In fact, Bobby sir himself didn’t know for the longest time that he is playing a mute character.”

Animal is set against the backdrop of a troubled father-son relationship. It was called out by a section of the audience for being misogynistic and brutally violent. It also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Prem Chopra, Suresh Oberoi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Siddhant Karnick. Recently, the makers celebrated the film’s success where Ranbir thanked his fans for their love and support to Animal.

Actor Kamaljeet Rana said that he “discovered” Animal only when he watched it after the release as before the release, despite being a part of the film, “we didn’t know what is going to happen next.”
