Boston Desi Connection quoted in Symbolism – Special Focus – Symbols of Diaspora

May 13, 2016: Boston Desi Connection (BDC TV) was quoted in a multi-volume  “Symbolism – Special Focus – Symbols of Diaspora, Volume 14, Editors, Rüdiger Ahrens, Klaus Stierstorfer, Publication year 2014; Published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co.”  Link to the Google Library is here.  The “Symbolism” is an International  Annual of Critical Aesthetics, published annually from Germany.  It is available in libraries of major universities.
Melanie R. Wattenbarger in the chapter titled “Tied To The Land: A Semiotic Challenging of Terms Concerning Land as Used in Diaspora Discourse” pages 33-34 discuss mission and activities of Boston Desi Connection.  Below are the images of relevant pages with red rectangle highlights.
BDC Founder and Director, Razia Mashkoor said, “This happens to a new media channel rarely!  This is a very exciting news that BDC is being referenced in the sociology literature.  This proves that BDC mission and work by its team members is being acknowledged by prestigious social literature in the Europe and other western countries.  It is a very important milestone for BDC and its team.  Congratulation to everyone for this accomplishment.”  She also said, ” BDC started in 2007.  We did not realize that BDC was referenced in the sociology literature for Indian diaspora since 2014.”
