Deepika Gets to Decide Who Plays Her Husband in Padmavati

SLB is letting the actress have it her way
Being the perfectionist that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is, it comes as no surprise to us that the director is not leaving any stone unturned when it comes to his next grand film, Padmavati. But what’s shocking is that Deepika is the one who’s being even more demanding than SLB, when it comes to choosing her husband in the film! Yes, that’s right. Now that she has completed her first Hollywood venture, DP is not going to settle for anything and everything.
It’s evident that the Bajirao Mastani actress is SLB’s favourite but it’s usually the directors who pick the cast of their films, since they have the correct vision to know who is suited best for each character. But clearly, the ace director is putting his feet up and letting the leading lady do as she pleases.  
It all started when Dippy disapproved the idea of having a TV actor cast as her husband in the film, simply because he wasn’t ‘big enough’ to share screen space with the actress. Then the next thing we knew was that Vicky Kaushal had also been rejected because DP wasn’t too keen on having him on board either. Tsk tsk!
Later, the buzz was that Fawad Khan will be signed for the film, which got all the fans super excited! That’s one onscreen jodi everyone would’ve liked to see, especially after their sizzling chemistry at the Manish Malhotra show. Apparently, Dippy was the one who pulled all the strings to get the Pakistani actor on board. But sadly, Fawad isn’t doing the film either.
And now, the only A-lister who’s being considered for the role is Shahid Kapoor. Finally, sources have revealed that Shahid wouldn’t mind being the second lead to Ranveer Singh, who will be seen as Alauddin Khilji.
Apparently, the Udta Punjab actor is very keen on taking up this role since it fits perfectly well with his future plans of taking a paternity break. So, ideally this role would be very convenient for him. But Deepika obviously has the final word here, so we can only wait and see whether she will approve of Shahid as her husband or not!
