Mumbai, July 12 (IANS) On the 14th anniversary of the release of Devdas on Tuesday, its lead actor Shah Rukh Khan said the 2002 Bollywood film will always be special to him.
Reminiscing about the film, Shah Rukh took to Twitter to thank the director and the cast.
“Devdas will always be special. Thank you Bhansali… the beautiful ladies and everyone. Late nights, long shoots and so much love,” he tweeted.
The film saw actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of Paro, Devdas’s love interest and Madhuri Dixit Nene as Chandramukhi, a courtesan who falls in love with SRK’s onscreen character.
Based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel, Devdas tells the story about a man named Devdas, who falls in love with with his childhood friend Paro. But when Devdas’s family doesn’t approve of their relationship, he leaves the house and seeks refuge at a brothel, owned by Chandramukhi.
The film was directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
