Mumbai, Jan 15 Rapper DIVINE says he felt a personal connection with his latest track, Jungle mantra, which reflects rebellion and opportunity. The track is part of the soundtrack of the upcoming film The White Tiger, and DIVINE recorded the song with American rappers Vince Staples and Pusha T.
“I’m really excited to have partnered on this film. I felt a personal connection with the refreshing narrative, which is so relevant today and comparable to the lives of many today who were once the underdogs, till they started to stand up and speak for themselves,” DIVINE said.
“This track will reflect the tale of rebellion and opportunity that the film weaves itself around and will narrate the story of the economic and emotional disparity between the rich and the poor,” he added.
The track explores the universal themes of class disparity.
Starring Adarsh Gourav in the central role, along with Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao, The White Tiger is based on Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. It is directed by American-Iranian filmmaker Ramin Bahrani.
On the song, Bahrani said: “I’m a huge DIVINE fan, so it was incredible to get to work with him. Along with the great Vince Staples and Pusha T, they delivered a thrilling track that amplified the themes and the energy of ‘The White Tiger’.”
The film will be released on Netflix on January 22.
