Does Film Industry forget actors and technicians in their dark days?
“Rishtein main to hum talent main sabke baap hote hai! Naam hai KaderKhan!”
1st January 2019. While we all were busy in wishing each other happy new year, Film industry lost a great screenplay writer, a matchless actor who excelled in all kind of roles (PS. He was NOT only a comedy actor) and a great learned Professor who once taught for 5 years Civil Engineering, Mr. Kader Khan. He was 81. Since last 2 years, he was staying at Canada with his son.Kader Khan had reportedly taken Canadian Citizenship .His only regret was that his own film industry people had forgotten him. Hardly anyone came to see him or even wish for his better health.
Kader khan is just an example. There are many stars, actors, musicians, technicians etc who were totally forgotten in their last days by film industry and public alike. Question is film industry so callous? Is our own public who make them phenomenon are not interested in them when they have a dull phase?
My thoughts on this:
First of all we all need to understand that Film industry is NOT a 9 to 5 job! Daily thousands of men and women come here to make their fortune in Mumbai. Hardly 1% can make it big here. More than talent, the must thing here to get success is PATIENCE. It takes years to make impact on audience and once you are successful, money, fame, reputation all comes together from all sides! The admiration and adulation which they get here is immense. You become habituated with stardom. Your life becomes public. Whatever you do comes in public limelight.
Film industry especially Hindi Film Industry rests on stardom factor. Here it is said Kismat har Friday badalti hai. No one can predict what will happen tomorrow. Once a great director can be out of race within few months also. You are judged by your last hit.
Make hay while the sun shines! This quote perfectly applies to Film industry! When actors are at peak, they try to in culminate everything they are getting, money fame etc. But nothing is permanent! As time progresses new fresh talents arrive and old ones are replaced. Change is inevitable law here. As soon as downfall starts, you are slowly and slowly forgotten by everyone. Once a lion becomes chuha now. But does apply only to film industry?
Any professional field you choose be it job or business or creative field, there are 4 stages of it: Struggle, success, saturation and downfall. Its law of nature. Old ones replace new ones and old ones are thrown out of the game. So why so much fuss about Film industry in particular? Does any employee who when started his career remember his boss or the person who helped him to get his first job?
There will be few who remember it. It’s our human tendency to move ahead in life. But sad fact is that this is wrong! There are many instances where the mentors were not visited not even bothered that they are living or dead by their people in their dark days. I do not support it at all but STOP condemning film industry people every time! It happens in politics, normal job life everywhere! We have a habit of iski topi uske sar and always putting all bad topis only on film industry people! Why? As they are in limelight so?
From the bottom of my heart I feel sorry for great soul Kader Khan Saab that no one even bothered to see him at Canada. Same happened with Mehmood saab, Bhagwan dada, MS SHINDE ( Editor) , Bharat Bhushan, Pradeep( actor ) etc etc. But this wrong mentality is everywhere in every field. That’s my only point.
