More trouble for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film
According to a report in The Deccan Chronicle, Eros International has allegedly opted out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming historical dramaPadmavati. The film was rumoured to star Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
The report said that the bone of contention for opting out was apparently the budget of the film, a whopping Rs 170 crore.
Apparently, the participation of yet another production house, Viacom 18 was sought, but with Eros backing out, it seems unlikely that Viacom will continue to support the film, the report added.
The report quoted an insider saying, “No corporate house would be willing to dole out the kind of budget that the film requires—not for a costume drama, especially after the debacle of Mohenjo Daro.”
