Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt’s daughter Krishna Bhatt reacts to his secret wedding with art curator Shwetambari Soni

BDC News

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and art curator Shwetambari Soni secretly got married during the peak of the lockdown in September 2020. However, the pair managed to keep their marriage a secret for a year. Vikram Bhatt has now finally opened up about his relationship and has also revealed the reason behind getting married in a private ceremony at his home.

On Wednesday, director Vikram Bhatt took to Instagram and drafted a poem in order to confess his love for wife Shwetambari Soni on the occasion of her birthday. He wrote, “You turned me inside out, and you showed me what life was about. Only you, the only one that stole my heart away, I wanna do all I can just to show you, make you understand. Only you, the only one that stole my heart away. Happy birthday me love. @shwetaambari.soni.”

In an interview with Mid-Day, Vikram revealed that his marriage was a private ceremony at his home. According to the director, they initially had planned a grand wedding. He said, “Even my friends couldn’t come. We had initially thought of having a [grand] wedding, but the pandemic [played spoilsport].”

The filmmaker confessed that he dated Shwetambari Soni for three years after they first met in 2016. Vikram revealed that he loves the fact that his wife is intelligent and franker than him. He further said that his wife is honest with her feedback even if his story is crap. He also said, “She doesn’t belong to the world of films, so I love coming home to someone who has been in a completely different world.”

Meanwhile, it comes as a surprise when Vikram Bhatt and his ex-wife Aditi Bhatt’s daughter Krishna Bhatt reacted to her father’s ‘secret marrige’ and said she wasn’t aware of it and found out about it ‘much later’. While speaking to India Today, Krishna said, “My parents got divorced 25 years ago. It took a while for me to understand that. I got accustomed to my parents not being together. I grew up and as I started taking on emotionally complicated scripts of my own, I realised that everyone has one life and everyone does what makes them happy. I found out about my dad’s wedding much later. He thought I was a little girl who wouldn’t be able to face this news. I suppose for your parents, you never grow up.”

While speaking about her bond with Shwetambari, Krishna said that she hasn’t interacted with her as she spent a lot of time away from her father, especially during the lockdown. She further said, “The bond between my father and me matters, and I am glad that remains unchanged.”

When Vikram Bhatt was recently asked by an entertainment portal if he asked for his daughter Krishna’s permission, he told ETimes, “Krishna is now old enough to understand relationships. I didn’t have to ask her. She knows her dad has a private life that is his.”
