Indian Student Found Dead in Texas Apartment; Family Says She Had Chest Pain for Two Days

In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh, Rajyalakshmi (Raji) Yarlagadda, was found dead in her apartment in Texas, United States, on November 7.

Raji, who had recently graduated from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, was seeking employment at the time of her death. According to her cousin Chaitanya YVK, who launched a GoFundMe campaign from Denton, Texas, Raji had been suffering from a severe cough and chest pain for 2–3 days before she passed away.

“On the morning of Nov. 7, she did not wake up while her alarm rang, leaving her family and friends heartbroken,” her cousin wrote in the fundraiser appeal.

A native of Karmechedu village in Bapatla district, Andhra Pradesh, Raji came from a small farming family. She had gone to the U.S. with dreams of building a better future for her parents and had recently completed her studies.

Authorities in Texas have initiated medical examination procedures to determine the exact cause of death.

Her cousin’s GoFundMe campaign seeks support for funeral arrangements, repatriation of her body to India, educational loan repayment, and financial aid for her grieving parents.
