Malayalam actor Kalinga Sasi passes away

Kozhikode (Kerala) April 7 Veteran Malayalam actor Sasi Kalinga, who has acted in more than 250 films, passed away on Tuesday (April 7). The actor was admitted to a private hospital in his hometown, Kozhikode, where he breathed his last.

According to the reports, Sasi was diagnosed with liver disease a few years ago and had been undergoing treatment for a long time now.

Aged 59, the actor is survived by his wife Prabhavati.

Many celebrities of the Malayalam film industry took to their social media pages to pay tribute to the veteran actor after the news of his death.

Director Lijo Jose Pellissery posted Sasi Kalinga’s picture and captioned it as Amen. The two had earlier worked together in 2013 musical satire film, Amen, which featured Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. Sasi’s performance in the film was widely appreciated and he went on to sign more films after that.

Actress Miya George and screenwriter Chemban Vinod Jose posted pictures of the actor and grieved his loss.

Sasi Kalinga started off his career as a theatre actor and later shot to fame with films like Pranchiyettan, The Saint, Amen, and Vellimoonga.

The actor made his movie debut in 1998 with Thakarachenda. Though his official name is Chandra Kumar, he changed it to Sasi before entering the industry.
