Canberra, Aug 12 (IANS) Perth residents were left stunned on Thursday by the sight of a gold private jet flying above the city then landing at Perth airport.
The jet, owned by Malaysia’s Sultan of Johor, Ibrahim Ismail and his wife Raja Zarith Sofiah, arrived in Western Australia where they are building a luxury holiday home, Xinhua reported.
The Sultan, 57, said he and his wife have long enjoyed Western Australia as a holiday destination because they largely go unnoticed.
Ismail’s arrival in Western Australia turned heads this time around due to the spectacle of his gold, fully customized Boeing 737.
The plane, believed to have cost more than $100 million, is equipped with a dining room, bedroom, shower and three kitchens and took two years to be completed to the Sultan’s specifications.
Ismail is having a three-story luxury mansion on the Perth waterfront on a plot of land he purchased from the Western Australian government for $6.5 million.
Ismail’s net worth is estimated to be upwards of $1 billion, though he has previously said he has to work hard for his money like everyone else.
