NOIDA, June 7, 2016: Summer breaks can be really productive for kids. Many use the time to take up a hobby or indulge in some co-curricular activities. Twelve-year-oldAaryaman Kapri from Noida is no different. The Sector 48 resident decided to dabble in amateur filmmaking, and made two short films. One of the two films, made on the theme of anti-smoking on World No Tobacco Day , got the attention of none other than Amitabh Bachchan . Big B shared the film on Twitter, appreciating Aaryaman. The film in which he has also acted, was shot from a smartphone and uploaded on YouTube after which a number of people shared it. One of the tweets caught the eye of Bachchan, who shared it with the caption, “so noble and pertinent”.

Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet was retweeted 96 times and liked by hundreds of others. Obviously, Aaryaman is on cloud nine ever since and says it’s the best compliment one can receive.

Aaryaman is a student of class VII at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Delhi and has been attending theatre workshops at the National School of Drama and Barry John’s school for some years now. But this was his first attempt at filmmaking. The short film, titled ‘Do You Love Me Papa?’, shows Aaryaman attempting to light a cigarette and as the camera zooms in him, he delivers a short monologue to the ‘grown-ups’ about how he feels when he sees them smoking. He says, “I wanted to do something on anti-smoking. I have been asking my father to quit smoking for some time now, so I decided to reach out to him through this medium.” His father Vinod Kapri , who is also a filmmaker and has made ‘Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho’ , smoked 15-18 cigarettes a day. He now plans to quit it in a few weeks’ time.

Aaryaman is currently conceptualising a short film on Delhi-NCR drivers’ habit of honking. “It’s just a productive way to utilise my summer vacations,” he says.
