The actress took to twitter to clarify that she was being misunderstood. So what exactly went wrong?

Parineeti Chopra seems like she has gotten herself into trouble once again. Following the recent controversy involving the actress body shaming a friend, she is now lambasted for having supposedly lied during an interaction with self-defence graduates and the press.
Here is how it all went down! Parineeti was recently at an event where she shared a touching story about her childhood struggles, growing up in Ambala. She explained how while growing up they were less fortunate, not being able to afford a car to travel to school. The actress explained her struggle of traveling on a bicycle and being eve-teased by guys along the way and how it helped her become a stronger person.

The video that was shot on the graduation ceremony at a self-defense academy in Mumbai, aimed to highlight the importance of self-defence to women around the world. All good till here right?

Following the video of her touching story, an unusual revelation came to light by a guy named Kkanoo Gupta, who claims to have studied with the actress. Through a Facebook post, he slammed Parineeti for being a hypocrite, saying that she was “lying through the teeth in front of camera.”

This Facebook post, went viral and caught the attention of other students who also studied in Ambala. Adding to the fire, they supported Gupta’s claims over series of tweets.

To clear the air, earlier today (30 May 2017), Parineeti took to Twitter to issue a statement basically stating that she had clearly been misunderstood.

As we wait for further clarification, it’s amusing to see how a speech that was intended to motivate women to take charge of their lives and learn self-defence, ended up serving a different purpose altogether.
