What could be the reason for the silence?
The Qandeel Baloch murder has taken the world by storm. While the twitterattis in India slammed this heinous act, Pakistani film industry is yet to take a strong stand on the issue. The faces of Pakistani film fraternity such as Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan have not opened up on this matter, which is surprising given that people look up to them for their fair and just opinions in such circumstances.
Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik was the first one to express his thoughts. He condemned Qandeel’s death on Twitter. Following this, Pakistani actor Imran Abbas, who was seen with Bipasha Basu in the film Creature 3D, shared a post on his Facebook account. The actor denounced the act and called it brutal. He further said that nobody has the right to take anyone’s life.
Well at least someone took the initiative. But is this enough?
