Mumbai Oct 26: Ranveer Singh is riding high on the success of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’. The actor has been elated because the film got critical acclaim as well as box office success. This win and accolades for his performance may be feeling sweeter to him after his previous three films didn’t get their due at the box office.

The actor made an appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan 8′ with his wife Deepika Padukone and revealed what he feels about the box office failure of ’83’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Cirkus’. He said, “Let me take you back to the pandemic. Coming out of the pandemic, we had this lovely film ’83’ (2021) which everybody loved. It just released at the wrong time. 48 hours before the release, we lost key markets because they all shut down due to Omicron. Unfortunately, a lovely film had the stigma of being a commercial underperformer.”

Talking about Jayeshbhai Jordaar, he said, “Jayeshbhai Jordaar was again, a lovely, well-intentioned film which ultimately found its audience on streaming which, in the post-pandemic climate, it’s where it belongs.” However, he was affected the most after ‘Cirkus’. He was not at all fine in January, February, and March after the release of ‘Cirkus’ in December.

But Ranveer finally broke his silence on being criticized for the casting in ‘Don 3’. Many felt that he wouldn’t be able to fit into the huge shoes of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. When Karan Johar asked him during the rapid-fire about his reaction to these critics, Ranveer said, “Ek chance dedo, 12-13 saal me thik thak hi kaam kiya hai maine, toh ek mauka toh banta hai (Give me a chance, I have done decent work in the last 12-13 years, so I deserve a chance)”

The announcement of Don 3 was made by revealing Ranveer’s first look and the release date. ‘Don 3’ directed by Farhan Akhtar is set to release in 2025.
