Did Salman Rushdie Call Ex Wife Padma Lakshmi a 'Bad Investment' for Refusing Sex?

BDC News
The demons of the famous writer are out in the open!

padmaPeople had their doubts about the base of the relationship when 51-year-old celebrated novelist Salman Rushdie tied the knot with Indian-American model Padma Lakshmi who was then 28 years old. The marriage last a few years before ending in divorce due to irreconcilable differences and more or less the attention died, until now, when Padma Lakshmi recently released her explosive autobiography divulging the scandalous details of her bad marriage to Rushdie.

Salman Rushdie, who was knighted by the Queen of England for his contribution to the literature, was somewhat different as a husband and going by Padma Lakshmi’s revelations, he was inconsiderate and cold. Padma has gone all out in her autobiography and has lashed out at the novelist for his ‘cold and unnatural ways’. During the course of their marriage, Padma developed endometriosis, a condition which affects the lining of the womb and underwent a surgery for the same. She went through a lot of physical pain and was not in a condition to have sex. Despite that, Salman used to demand sex from her, which would cause her excruciating pain. He would then make rather crass remarks about his then wife being a ‘bad investment’!

After marriage, he openly criticised Padma in front of press and said that women only want a wedding and not a marriage. “It’s strange, given that I’ve been married four times, but I actually don’t think marriage is necessary,” he said. “Girls like it, especially if they’ve never been married before – it’s the dress. Girls want a wedding, they don’t want a marriage. If only you could have weddings without marriages,” he added.

Rather sad, we say.
