Despite both being prominent figures in Bollywood and sharing a close relationship, actor Salman Khan and director-producer Karan Johar have never teamed up for a full-length film. Although Salman had a significant cameo in Karan’s directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), they never worked together in any capacity following that. However, their bond has remained strong, and Salman has made appearances on Koffee with Karan as well.
Now, after a 25-year gap, Salman Khan and Karan Johar are set to collaborate in a full-length film titled The Bull, headlined by the Tiger 3 actor, directed by Shershaah helmer Vishnuvardhan and produced by Karan’s Dharma Productions.
According to a statement issued by The Bull’s team, the film is based on a true story and will feature Salman Khan in the role of a paramilitary officer. “The movie will depict the harrowing events of the terror attacks in Malé, Maldives, on November 3, 1988, locally referred to as Badi Buraasfathi or Gun [Explosive] Thursday.”
It is reported that Salman will commence filming in February 2024, and this will be his Eid 2025 gift to fans. He will also undergo 60 days of training and transformation sessions before joining the set.
“Salman Khan has allotted bulk dates to Karan Johar for this ambitious action thriller inspired by true events. He will be shooting for this film from February to August 2024, and the preparations to change his body structure have already started,” a source close to the development revealed.
“Karan and co wish to put up multiple sets in Mumbai costing a bomb as the idea is to recreate the era gone by with a proper art team rather than recreating them using VFX. The work on creating the costumes and uniforms is also in progress. They want to stay true to the aesthetics. The film is tentatively titled The Bull, and is based on one of the most heroic missions conducted by the Indian Army,” another source said.
Salman Khan and Karan Johar have been meeting consistently over the past eight months to discuss various aspects of the film. Finally, the shooting dates were confirmed in their meeting last week.
The recent announcement has brought much joy to Salman’s fans, who are already celebrating the success of the star’s recently released action film, Tiger 3, which is still running in theatres.
