Varun pays respects to terror attack victims

Mumbai, July 2 (IANS) Actor Varun Dhawan on Saturday utilised a promotional event for his upcoming film “Dishoom” to pay his respects to the victims of the recent terror events around the world.
“There’s been something in my mind and on my heart. I think all of you all might be sensing it. Everyone’s a little heavy because there have been attacks all over the world, the last couple of days, whether it’s been Istanbul, whether recently now Dhaka, so it doesn’t feel right if we don’t pay respect to the people who lost their lives, all those families.
“So we can maintain silence, may be for a few seconds, just for them, just say a small prayer. Pray to any god you’ll believe in, just for those lives that have been lost,” Varun said, present at Mithibai college here.
Around 20 hostages, including an Indian girl, were killed when terrorist stormed a restaurant in Dhaka on early Saturday and around 43 people were killed and 239 others wounded in an attack at Istanbul’s international airport on June 28.
Varun also performed to his song “Toh Dishoom” at the event with rapper Raftaar, who has sung the song.
“It is a very special film. I love the track ‘Sau Tarah Ke’, but today we are here actually for another track, ‘Toh Dishoom’. Raftaar is a very special man. Usually when we launch songs, actors never have the singers over there, we lip-sync and look cool.
“But he’s actually here so that everyone knows. It’s a big honour that Raftaar will actually sing few lines and there’s a special rap which is not there in the video, which is very difficult.”
Raftaar said: “Varun is a very humble guy. I know that the girls are die-hard fans of Varun, since the time I tweeted that I am going with Varun to do promotions, Mrs. Varun Dhawan, Varun Ka Pyaar, Varun Ki Lover have tweeted insane on retweets for me. I am jealous.”
“Dishoom”, which also stars John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez, releases on July 29.
